5 Tips On How Parents Can Help Their Child Transition From Pre-K to Kindergarten:

 

1.The first and most important step is regular attendance. A lot of parents may be thinking that Pre-K isn’t important but the structure and set learning environment it provides is key in the transition.

2.Be involved! When you know, your child knows. When you are involved it shows that you are interested and the child will be more willing to show interest.

3.Children learn through repetition. Check their book bags regularly, repeat the alphabet with them, help the Teacher teach.

4.Encourage independence and cognitive development. Let your child know that it is ok to do ‘big kid’ things.

5.Be accepting of progress reports and teacher conferences. This is your child’s first attempt at school so any suggestions given or requests made…BE OPEN!
